Title
Partner Search for Eurostars Project: Expertise Sought in Simulation and Process Optimization for Polymer-Based Solid-State Batteries
AbstractFor the Eurostars project on upscaling polymer-based solid-state batteries, a leading German research institute seeks SMEs or universities to support the mixing, coating, drying, and calendering processes. Partners will assist in scaling from lab to pilot scale through both practical implementation and process simulation. They will also contribute to modeling the electrode production process chain using AI, enabling detailed analysis and optimization of the entire production process.
DescriptionIn the planned project, Simulation-based upscaling of the polymer-based solid-state battery, the existing laboratory scale of the polymer-based solid-state battery is to be upscaled, along with universities and SMEs from Europe. Simulation of electrode production will be used to support the upscaling of the polymer-based solid electrolyte and composite cathode on a pilot plant. The process chain is to be modeled using AI to gain an overall view of the process chain. This will enable a detailed analysis of the cause-and-effect relationships in the individual processes. The project will conclude with an evaluation of the process chain.
Advantages and innovation
The project will be submitted to EUROSTARS, which aims to promote cooperation between research institutes and SMEs. The objective of this project is to scale up the existing laboratory scale of the polymer-based solid-state battery with simulation support. The polymer-based solid electrolyte and composite cathode will be manufactured in a roll-to-roll process. In this project, a tool is to be developed for rapid process optimization. This should reduce production times and production costs. These findings will be used to derive recommendations for action on an industrial scale. This will enable SMEs to further scale up together with industry so that the polymer-based solid-state battery can be produced on an industrial scale.
