German Space startup seeks provider of R512E silicide coating for long-term manufacturing agreement

Abstract

A German New Space startup specialized in the design, development, and production of high-performance components for satellite propulsion systems using additive manufacturing is looking for a service provider for R512E silicide coating. The envisaged cooperation type is a manufacturing agreement.

Description

The German startup is a cutting-edge metal additive manufacturing service provider for space, defence, energy and related industries. The focus is on the processing of niobium alloys (C103), nickel alloys (In718), titanium alloys (Ti64, Ti CP1), aluminum alloys (A6061, AlSi10Mg) refractory metals (Tantalum, Tungsten) and stainless steel (SS316L). The company has extensive expertise in process development for innovative alloys and serves as a development partner and product designer. for several applications.
The new space industry and the associated increase in demand for satellites require more sustainable and cheaper solutions. The additive manufacturing technologies used by the German startup enable the development and manufacturing of satellite propulsion components that are lightweight and less expensive.
The company is now looking for a partner company that can carry out the R512E silicide coating of these components. This is necessary because refractory metal alloys require protection against hot gas corrosion that can withstand temperatures of up to 1500 - 1800 °C. The partner sought should have experience with silicide coatings or at least with slurry diffusion coatings.
In the short term, the German company is looking for a partner who could coat parts as quickly as possible and continuously for a period of at least 3 to 5 years.
In the long term, the German company could also imagine a technology transfer with an institute, so that it could map the coating process internally. However, this type of co-operation is of secondary importance at the moment.
Advantages and innovation
The coating technology sought is necessary to protect refractory metal alloys against hot gas corrosion that can withstand temperatures of up to 1500 - 1800 °C.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought
The partner sought should have experience with silicide coatings or at least with slurry diffusion coatings. Preferrably the partner has already experience with R512E coatings.
